This was amongst the first of its kind and featured some legendary Christian comedians such as Anthony King, Michelle Wille, Patrick Medley with Ibe Giantkiller and Bishop Wayne Malcom as the hosts.
Bishop Malcom was the mad behind the movement and said he wanted to do this for a few reasons, one that he sees laughter as therapy and two because after a difficult few years of covid he thought this would add some much needed respite.
The bishop shared how the idea came to fruition: Im personally a fan of stand-up comedy and became aware of Christian comics quite early in my faith journey... I was truly delighted when I met some UK Christian comics who could change the atmosphere, generate a stitch and pull the laughter out of your inner man. The first one I met many years ago was Ibe and so he was the first person I contacted when I got the idea and he agreed to host the event. His blessing made a difference and let me know I was onto something good!
The host of the night went on to say how blessed he was that all kinds of people engaged with the show: I saw people who had lost a job or were dealing with marital failure. I saw them laugh from a deep place and experience relief on a profound level, if only for a moment. These were people who never thought they could ever laugh again and were now laughing with shameless intensity.
After the show the Bishop did an altar call for those struggling with anxiety, depression and other conditions. There have been calls for another show after this one was hugely popular and the bishop has already began working on more, saying: Ive since been inundated with requests to do it again and the plans are already in progress.
On Sunday August 14th comedy history was made in the UK with a fully Christian comedy show taking place in London.Voluptas minus non est nam reiciendis est.
