UK Gospel music consumers and artists alike have strongly expressed their disappointment and frustration at the inclusion of US gospel heavyweights in a category that has traditionally been dedicated to homegrown talent.
The Gospel Music Industry Alliance issued a statement saying : We embrace an open dialogue with members of the MOBO nominations panel to engage in a forum to ensure future nominations are more representative of the gospel community at large.
Excitement is understandably brewing for the inaugural Step FWD awards taking place on Saturday 27th November. The UKs definitive Christian and Gospel music awards show is heavily geared towards supporting UK talent, and fans will see the likes of CalledOut Music,Tee Supreme, Michael Oyo, Mark Asari, The Spirituals, Guvna B and Sarah Teibo amongst others, battle it out for top honours on the night.
Dubbed by many as the top gospel industry event of 2021, the Step FWD awards will have performances from some of UK Christian & Gospel musics most revered artists including Graham Kendrick, Noel Robinson, Philippa Hanna and Lurine Cato MBE.
