Fred Hammond has said God has told him that he's finished doing all work with Commissioned. The music artist, 61, was a member of the gospel group Commissioned that started in 1983, releasing their first album in 1985 and going on to release 11 more. Winning 5 Grammy awards and 6 Stellar awards, the group are renowned for their huge discography and contribution to the gospel music scene. Made up of Fred Hammond, Keith Staten, Marvin Sapp, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Williams and Michael Brooks, the artists performed a reunion concert in 2019 and did a UK exclusive interview with Premier Gospel in August 2020. Hammond has released a string of solo albums and songs, scooping up Dove, Stellar and Grammy awards for his work whilst remaining an active member of the group but has now revealed that his time with them has come to an end. In a Facebook Live video he was asked what's going on with him and the group and replied saying: "If I'm really 100% honest, just recently the Lord showed me that my time with Commissioned had come to a total end, it's over for me. Bless the group and what they're going to do in the future but the Fred Hammond days of Commissioned, I've seen the last of it."
