Erica Campbell: "tonight's loss stung me a little bit"

The Grammys are one of, if not the most prestigious music award ceremony in todays society with stars far and wide flocking for the annual event and wanting a chance to be globally recognised for their work. This year Maverick City Music showed up and showed out winning all of the categories they were nominated for. They were up against the likes of DOE, Tye Tribbet and PJ Morton - all of which have released incredible music this year. One nominee who lost out to the group for Best Song was Erica Campbell and she didn't hide her disappointment after the ceremony. Taking to Instagram Live the music artist expressed her feelings at not winning the award for her song Positive, saying: "I want to be honest, I know you hear people say it's an honour to be nominated and it is. On the grand scheme about 2000 songs come out a month and all those songs, all month and all year. It's truly a honour, and Im happy for Maverick City, I really am but tonight I was sad I lost.

I usually don't care and I was sad for a bunch of different reasons. When you've been in it for a minute you feel like certain things are beyond you but they're not, we all go through the same stufftonight stung a little bit...I felt like man God, I put my time in too, I know they did but i worked hard too, why wasnt it my time?

Erica, who is one half of the famous gospel group Mary Mary, spoke about how the loss didn't just stop at the award either but the red carpet can be difficult too: "you get on the carpet and the carpet is legit a circus, everybody is trying to get every interview, you got people like me and then you have huge stars walking through. You could be talking with somebody interviewing with somebody, answering a question and they literally turn from you to somebody else - if your ego was not strong it can do damage."
I felt like man God, I put my time in too, I know they did but i worked hard too, why wasnt it my time?
Campbell, who has five Grammys under her belt, used the loss as a teachable moment to those watching, saying: "you have to learn how to win and loose, I cant just be happy when I win and then when I loose be mad. Im not mad at anybody, Ijust wanted to win too. So if you've ever been there, youre not sinful because of thatbut what Im saying is sometimes you get disappointed."

The artist wasn't short of support after being so transparent however, on the Gospel Breakfast show this morning Belinda asked Pastor Mike White if he had any encouragement for the artist to which he reminded her and us that we all have our time.Chandler Moores wife commented on Erica's video saying: "Lady, YOU are more than seen, valuable & necessary!!! ?You are chosen to be light and YOU SHINE SOOO VERY BRIGHTLY!! I totally understand the feeling and the letdown ~ Ive actually never been nominated ~ so Ive NEVER LOST!!! ??? ((You see how I flipped that?!?)) ?Thanks for being transparent and honest with us all. ??? Sending up prayers for you and your heart! Youre a fighter and a winner!! Congratulations on the nomination ~ and the WIN!!"

Erica's lesson here - it's okay to be disappointed after a loss.
