Seamlessly interweaving multiple music genres and sounds, Lawrences 14 track project is a masterpiece. Majoring in music theatre at college; Lawrence is no stranger to the art form, having previously supervised the music for Bebe Winans Born for This Broadway production.
Partnering with the Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre, Lawrence is taking Goshen to Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The theatre company is renowned for reimagining and diversifying the aesthetics of contemporary dance by uniting modern, classical, American, and African-American traditions in dance and storytelling.
Speaking to ABC7 News about Deeply Rooted, Lawrence said: "It's been fun working with them, man and just to see it come to life and be so unique in the approach of storytelling, with one of the songs being more ballet, some of the stuff being African, some of it being character. It's been really cool, a lot of fun.
The production for "A Deeply Rooted Evening for Chicagos Healing: GOSHEN," will explore historic biblical themes of power, oppression, and deliverance in a joyous contemporary setting, reflecting the souls journey through human experience, introspection, and hope.
I think of Goshen as a spiritual zip code, and those who reside there succeed against all odds. If we have a Goshen mindset, we have a position of faith that Gods hand of protection is always around us, says Lawrence.
