A Day of Joy and Worship: The Liverpool Gospel Music Festival Experience

Our very own Ibe Giantkiller, a well-known presenter at Premier Gospel, had the honour of hosting the first-ever Liverpool Gospel Festival last Saturday.

The festival was nothing short of amazing, beginning with the divine blessing of beautiful weather. Under a sun-soaked sky, Liverpool truly came to life. The kind of day that makes you feel like you're on a paid holiday!

Each artist at the festival played their part in making the day exceptional. Special mention to Anu and her team who did an outstanding job organising the event. One of the highlights for Ibe was seeing newcomer Tofunmi Adorna, set the stage on fire. Tofunmi who won “Best Newcomer “ at the Premier Gospel Awards 2023, fully justified their faith in her talent with a breathtaking performance.

Sarah Teibo also made a triumphant return to the stage after a short illness and stirred up an electrifying energy among the audience. CalledOut Music took things to another level, making it feel like a personal concert for each attendee.

The  Lighthouse Choir,  Hayli Kincade and The Wavertree Gospel choir did a brilliant job too, as did Naffymar who rocked the stage with her performance. Another highlight of the event was seeing  Ibe lead a gospel conga line with attendees through the park - an unforgettable moment!
Volney Morgan and New Ye lit the stage on fire with an incredible performance which took the energy to a powerful level.

As if that wasn't enough, Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir ended the festival on a high note with some incredible performances. Such was their impact that when Ibe came on afterward, people were asking for more!

What made this event even more notable was its punctuality - it started and ended right on time! A big shout-out to Ace and his team for excellent stage management. Co-hosting alongside Ngunan Adamu from BBC Merseyside added another dimension to Ibe's experience.

Premier Gospel made its mark too with some fantastic prizes, including £50 vouchers and tickets for next year's Premier Gospel Awards.

The turnout for this inaugural festival was impressive, with around 3,000 to 4,000 in attendance. Yes, even London was well represented!

In Ibe's words, the Liverpool Gospel Festival was "absolutely fire." As we eagerly look forward to next year's festival, this event will surely be remembered as the one that sets a high bar for all that follow.
